It's a good sign

Are you the sort of person who always misses out on 'the deal' but a few minutes? Does the person who bought their raffle ticket just after you win the prize? Well, mostly that is me, but today, my luck changed.
Mr Fink was helping me upgrade my old house brick of a phone. I'd plumped for an LG Viewty as my next mobile and went round all the shops trying to get one on Pay As You Go. None to be had.
We came home, checked the deals on the web and Mr Fink said, check your current provider (Virgin) and see what they do. Well, they did the next model down, the 'Cookie' which was perfect, on the same deal as I use now. Brilliant AND I wont have to muck about porting my number to a new network.
I phoned them, spoke to a chap who sounded Chinese/Dutch who seemed to be telling me I could get this £100 phone for £4.80 - the price of the postage??????? what? Are you mad, what am I missing, where is the catch, tell me again how this works, using words of one syllable. It turns out, over the years of me topping up my PAYG phone with an average of £10 per month, I have earned 'brownie points' with Virgin, that I can use to purchase a new phone. Yippee.
These things NEVER happen to me. Role on the New Year say I.
