Two pigeons managed to find their way under the anti-bird netting in the hospital. It is designed to prevent the pigeons rooting around the fire escapes and buildings and creating dust and mess in the hospital. (Not to mention before we had the netting, when they used to accidentally fly into the hospital and cause terrible mess indoors.)
I don't know how they are getting in, the netting looks intact.
A weekend without food and they were looking interested this morning, where at the end of last week, they were not bothered about the grain I put out.
One went in to the trap, the other hoovering up the seed in the entrance - I thought, oh my, if the lead pigeon springs the trap, we could have a problem here. The trap is a 'live capture' one, but only for one animal at a time!
Anyway, they were so hungry and greedy, they were climbing over each other to get to the grain, they stood on the trigger and the trap closed. They didn't even stop eating once they were inside!
I fetched the trap out into the car park and let them go. My boss was pleased as she is an animal lover and frets when the pigeons are stuck.
I asked if as part of my continued development training, could I put in for a course on 'bird of prey' handling?
