Edward Skellington (aka Ed Da Head)
Mr Fink's Christmas gift to me.
Best gift ever?
I thought I'd do a review of 2012 but that's just going to be a list of stuff we've been involved in, so here's a general ramble of my thoughts on the past year and what we're looking forward to.
For me, this year has been dominated by friends and family. I've lost contact with some I thought would be my buddies for life and I've made new ones that I can't ever see being out of my life-picture. When Nelly was little I advised her that at school, you don't just have one bestest friend, it's good to have lots of different friends, I should have taken my own advice! Now I have lots of great friends, all suited to different activities. Ones with families, great for a tramp in the woods. Some that are a riot to go out on the town with and one or two that I pour my heart out to. I also have my husband. He is a wonderful friend, never takes me too seriously and keeps me on the straight and narrow, he is a great support in my life and I love him very very much.
Family has played a large part in my year, as ever with the usual births, weddings, funerals, games nights, summer revels and get togethers, not to mention an extra Christmas in March and impromptu evenings chatting over a glass of something. One of my relatives has been diagnosed with prostate cancer so we have that journey to follow, we've all done our homework about the disease and are going forward with a positive approach.
For 2013, apart from the obvious wishing everyone a healthy and prosperous year, I'm looking forward to seeing my friends' thrive in their new ventures (music, baking, photography, mycology), getting out and about to join in with live music, walks in the great outdoors and time with my family.
I've booked a couple of tickets to see Chris Packham's show locally and my bestie has booked tickets for us to see Robbie Williams! (not sure that's a fair trade off but she'll come to love Chris!), there's Christmas in March with The Foggs (wherever they may be living by then), live music from The Synthetix and Waiting For Katherine to look forward to and many many as yet to be organised get togethers.
I hope 2013 brings us all mostly good things with only a couple of 'bad's', just enough to make us appreciate the good stuff.
Be the best you can be, do the best you can and enjoy your life while you are living because you are a long time dead. xx
