Aloha,
This week has been another one of 'those' weeks. (Is it just me?)
I spent a few minutes looking out of my office window which faces out onto an enclosed, grassed quadrangle, the top of which is covered in netting to stop the dirty, smelly pigeons pooing all over the hospital.
As I was looking, I noticed a magpie walking along the rooftop gutting, flicking bits of moss out of the clogged drainpipes. I surmised that the hospital maintenance guys had taken to training the local wildlife to clean out the gutters so that they don't have to climb up ladders. (Heh heh sorry lads!)
Anyhoo, About an hour later, a magpie tuns up on the wall...damn...he's found a way in under the netting and can't remember how to get out.
So I've fed him, named him, 'Pica' and am planning his capture and release. (Previous success with a friends' squirrel trap but I won't get that till next week) so I put out a call on Freecycle, the community website where you give and share stuff. Within an hour I had the offer of a humane trap. I bludged off work for 30 minutes, picked up the trap, set it up and went back to work.
I could hear the magpie laughing through the window. The trap is designed for squirrels and chipmunks. that magpie is NEVER going to go in that tiny trap. However, I will try it.
Oh btw - I did do 'some' work this week - honest. x
