I opened the first three of four brown envelopes this morning, all from the tax office telling me I will no longer be receiving child tax credits.
The last envelope had Nelly's school name on the postmark. "Oh heck, what's happened?" I thought.
Another school trip to pay out for? Another letter about uniform?
No, A letter from the Headmaster telling us Nelly had been awarded the fortnightly prize for best student in her year. She was given 25 merit points and had tea with the headmaster, whom she described as, "a really nice man". We've even been sent a photo of her shaking hands with him while receiving her certificate. How proud?
I asked Nelly why she had not mentioned the award? "I forgot."
Humble too eh!
