I don't make cakes. Once, when I was in the 2nd year at Secondary school, I sympathised with the school bully when her cake didn't turn out right, I said, "It looks like one of mine." Meaning 'I feel your pain.'At lunchtime she waited for my friends and I to return from the sweet shop in the village, she cornered me and beat the **** out of me. A passerby stopped her and I ran home.
When my mum and dad saw me, they called the police, she (15 years old) was arrested, charged and eventually convicted of ABH on me.
So my history of cake making has never been auspicious.
However, I bought a book today, '100 bread maker recipes' of which some were cakes. I chose a ginger and lemon cake. mixed the ingredients as per the recipe. then it said, 'put the mix in the bread maker and set it to 'cake' setting'.
My bread maker doesn't HAVE a 'cake' setting! doh.
I set it to 'stun' instead and voila, one lemon and ginger cake.
